Notes for Arthur Gibson MANNING


Farmer and grazier. Educated at Wagga Wagga and Yass public schools; obtained
farming experience in the Parkes district; selected land near Narrabri in 1891
which he held until c.1908; purchased Merringreen station near Wyalong;
president of Ungarie Railway League; member of Condobolin Pastures Protection
Board; Farmers and Settlers` Association executive from 1913 until 1918;
councillor of Graziers` Association from 1917 until 1934; member of Chamber of
Agriculture., New States League, King and Empire Association; chairman of
Australian Meat Council; member of Australian delegation to League of Nations
in 1926; Freemason.
